Spencer & Tessa went to middle school together and frequented the same places for the better part of a decade before eventually crossing paths. They probably would have met sooner had Spencer not been banned from riding the school bus that year or had Tessa not moved away after seventh grade.

Fast forward to​​ junior year of highschool, Tessa ended up moving back home to Scottsdale. This story would be way too easy if she had gone to the same high school as Spencer, so of course she went to a different school (& lived within 3 miles from him the whole time). They continued to run circles around one another for years, still never meeting. But, to anyone who knew them both individually, they were bound to grab each other's attention if and when they ever did meet.

So, à la Cinderella meets Prince Charming or whatever, Spencer showed up at Tessa’s doorstep one summer night in 2018 with handmade sneakers just for her. You, like Tessa, would be slightly intrigued too if a mysterious cobbler swept in one day to ask what size shoes you wear, what you're doing in Europe, and when you'll be back for him to hand deliver them...

Tessa invited the shoes (& Spencer) inside where they talked and talked and talked into the early hours of the morning when Tessa realized she liked Spencer way more than the shoes. Trixie (Tessa's cat) who never missed an opportunity to harass guests, spent the entire night curled up in a ball on Spencer’s lap. That one meet-cute was it; they soon moved in together, got another cat & the rest is history.

Five years later, Spencer enlisted the help of Tessa’s bff (& now maid of honor) Amanda to help strategize his proposal. To those who know Spencer, you also know his dedication to planning elaborate surprises. After months of planning, they pulled it off seamlessly without Tessa finding out (level 10 difficulty).

- Amanda plans to visit Tessa the weekend before Halloween to provide an alibi for Spencer’s absence while he fully decks out an airbnb for her

- Since Spencer hates Halloween, use the opportunity to get Tessa super excited about having Amanda in town to coordinate a costume with

- Have Amanda let Tessa know a few weeks before visiting that her family friend is having a bbq they are invited to that same weekend - the friend in question was someone Tessa knows through Amanda, but not well enough for her to smell a rat

- Tell Tessa her friend's family is “boujee” so they should "wear something nice" to the bbq, but also "bring the costumes to change into afterwards" (this was a flat out lie - her family is very down to earth & Tessa noted this to Spencer, which made him & Amanda a wee bit nervous she was catching on to their plan)

- Reverse psychology Tessa into asking Amanda if she wants to get her nails done the morning of the proposal (wtf Amanda how did you pull this off)

- Have Tessa drive her & Amanda to the house Spencer rented for the weekend because no one expects to be driving to their own proposal

- Have Amanda lead Tessa inside while also secretly recording her as Spencer waits with a fully decked out backyard filled with roses, fairy lights, photos, champagne & a diamond ring in his pocket (he also had more recruits hidden throughout the backyard to photograph the entire ordeal... Spencer truly covered all of his bases)

When Tessa opened the door to the longest trail of rose petals she'd ever seen, she quickly gathered that this was in fact not a fancy bbq. In fact, it wasn’t a bbq at all.
